Weekends

Is it time again? Already?

As I sit here on a lovely Saturday afternoon, resting up from a particularly restless work week... I've been thinking about one thing. We recently entered the month of May. May 1st is International Workers' Day. Labour Day. May Day. It has different names in different countries, but it celebrates one cause. The cause of the working class. The eight-hour work day, the 5 day work week, the universal peace of a nation of labourers, and the call for the demands of the proletariat.

These are things we have many to thank for. Those who have struggled, and fought, and suffered, and died for. People of all backgrounds.

In 1947, May 1st was deemed "Loyalty Day" in the USA. This was an attempt to counter interest in communism and draw attention away from Workers' Day rallies and events by politicians with corporate motivations.

This is all to say, I think we've lost the true meaning of Christmas here, so to speak. I'm here for making May Day May Day again - a day to celebrate and punctuate the cause of the people.

All for now. Ta ta.
